Meatball Subs
Homemade, but worth the time
Ingredients
- 1lb 80/20 hamburger meat
- 1lb Italian sausage
- 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup shredded Colby-Jack cheese
- 1 tbsp liquid smoke
- 1 egg
- 1 jar marinara sauce
- 1 pkg provolone cheese
- 1 pkg hoagie rolls
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400
- Preheat cast iron pan to medium heat
- In a bowl combine: hamburger meat, Italian sausage, egg, bread crumbs, cheese, and liquid smoke
- Mix the mixture until evenly incorporated
- Portion out preferred size of meat balls
- Once all the meat is portioned place meatballs in the cast iron pan
- cook for 8 minutes rotating them every 2 minutes
- Then transfer to the oven and cook until internal temp is 165 (about 15 more min)
- Remove from heat and pour marinara sauce on them
- Add them to your hoagie and then top with provolone cheese
